- SNAKE TEMPLE

Situated
at Sungai Kluang near Bayan Lepas airport in the
Penang Island. Also known as the Pure Cloud
Temple. Built in 1850 to commemorate a Buddhist
priest Chor Soo Kong who was believed to possess
healing powers. Legend has it that, a religious
man gave shelter to poisonous snakes seeking
refuge here and when the temple was completed,
snakes mysteriously appeared in and around the
temple. It has since then being a refuge for
snakes in the temple. Some snakes are poisonous
pit-vipers which can be seen crawling around the
altar inside the temple.
