Thai Cuisine
Thailand, owes its rich culinary
art of the cuisines of India, China, Malaysia and
Indonesia. The success of this country's cuisine
lies in the blend of 4 basic tastes ie salty,
sweet, sour and pungent which from the wide range
of flavours, making diners what to eat more and
more. Hovewer, foreigners must note the chilli is
amply used in a number of Thai dishes,such as
curry, fried dishes and even soups. So, visitors
are advised to watch out of the little green or
red chillis or ask the chef to reduce the
spiciness of the dishes. Some of Thai favourite
dishes are Kai ho bai (seasoned fried chicken in
leaf wrappers), thotman plakrai or thotman kung
(fish or shrimp fritters in Thai style) and
tomyam (hot and sour soup).
Seafood
More and more visitors have
discovered to their delight that Thailand is not
only a kingdom of fruits but also a kingdom of
seafood. The sercet of Thai seafood deliciousness
lies in its freshness. As Thailand has a long
coastline, with Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and most
other cities close to the sea, fresh supplies of
fish, crabs, prawns and other shellfish are
readily available.
Chinese Food
Thailand is an idael place to
enjoy genuine Chinese food that taste like that
of its country of origin. The Chinese culinary
art was first bought to Thailand By the Chinese
who migrated to Thailand in large numbers in the
late Ayuthaya period over 200 years ago. Chinese
food is commonly served in restaurants and hotels
in every part of Thailand. Thailand is the only
place outsides of China besides Taiwan and Hong
Kong that can provide tourists with a wide choice
of delicious Chinese dishes.
Western and Asian Food
Western cuisine that available in
Bangkok and other provincial tourists centres are
American, English, French, German, Hungarian,
Italian, Scandinavian a Swiss. Asian cuisine
includes Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese,
India, Muslim and Arabic. Western style fast food
shops, snack bars and ice-cream parlours are
available in Thailand.
