The climate is barely tropical and monsoonal. There are two seasons that dominates the year. The Southwest Monsoon (spring/summer), which is rather warm, wet and humid begins in March to September. The Northeast Monsoon (fall/winter), which begins in October to February is cool and dry. The colony can, however, experience great variations in this general pattern, notably in periods between successive monsoons and dramatically during the typhoon season which is mid May. The best months to visit Hong Kong are October and November.
