Victoria Peak ............................................................................................................................ The Victoria Peak , standing at 547
metres above sea level, dominated the Hong Kong Island is
where the richest members of the colony lives. On a clear
day, one can wander through forests of bamboo and fern,
stunted Chinese pines, hibiscus, and vines of wonderfully
writhing beauty. Ornithologists go up there to log
sightings of blue magpies, crested goshawks and kites.
The best way to see The Peak in all its bucolic
glory is by walking around Lugard Road. Just to the right
is the Café Deco, which offers magnificent views. Some
attraction on the way to and from the Peak are Zoological
Gardens and Botanical Gardens, which houses good
collections of flora and fauna. An aviary here has about
700 birds of 300 species.
