Climate
.......................................................................................................................................

The climate is predominantly tropical. The two main infuences on it being the archipelago‘s equatorial position and the fact that it is split up into so many scattered islands, a third is its situation between the landmasses of Australasia and Asia, which affects the monsoon seasons, Such temperature variations as there are within the islands are dependent more on altitude than on geographical location, with the highest average temperature 29 - 33 ° C being around the coast. There are two monsoon seasons. The East Monsoon lasts from June to September and is characterized by dry weather, especially towards the east. The West Monsoon, which runs from December to March brings heavy rainfall especially towards the west. Even outside the West Monsoon period, the rainfall is generally high in the western islands ie Sumatra and Kalimantan. Humidity is on the high side ie 75% - 100%. Afternoon thunderstorms occur frequently all over Indonesia. Light weight or cotton clothing is highly recommended.
