The only journey by
train is with the Philippines National Railway which runs
for 12 hours from Manila to Naga in Southern Luzon.

By Bus
Bus fares in the
Philippines are low and government controlled. Tickets
for regular buses are issued aboard. Reservations by
phone are sometimes accepted depending on the bus company
and should be made 1 day prior departure. Most
destinations are serviced every 30 minutes or hourly.
Passengers can get off the bus at almost any place along
the route. The level of cigarette smoke is often high so
non-smokers prefer air conditioning buses. A list of Bus

Jeepneys
Jeepneys, which look like enlarged jeeps are common. They
are cheap : P1.50 for a trip up to 4 km.

Taxis
Taxis are
convenient and cheap. Ask the taxis driver to flag down
the meter. If he doesnt, take the next one. As some
meter runs too fast, ask your hotel staff for the
approximate fare. Have small money because taxis driver
normally have no change.

Hire Car
The big international companies all have offices in
Manila. Vehicles can be rented with or without chauffeur.
The cars are usually in good condition. Foreigner renters
need a valid drivers licence, passport and plane
