Cagayan Province which covers the northernmost corner of Luzon and the Babuyan Islands. Although the region is very fertile, thanks to the Cayagan and it tributaries and is sheltered from typhoons, it is developed as a centre of industry and toursim. Calveria, the northernmost town has its own Waiikiki Beach (as in Hawaii), but a boat trip to the Babuyan Islands is more rewarding. Cagayan’s capital, Tuguegarao has become a boring town since its destruction by American bombs. The Provincial Museum is however worth seeing, pride of the collection are the paleolothic finds.
