Marinduque Province
............................................................................................................................ Marinduque,
the island lying between Batangas and the Bondoc
peninsula, enjoys a very quiet and rural existance. The
Marinduqueros most of whom originated in Batangas and
Quezon live mainly from rice-growing and from the fruit
of the innumerable coconut palms, which is processed into
copra. Fish is abundant in the waters around this
mountainious island, where life is by large peaceful and
idyllic. During Holy Week, however, peace reigns no
longer when the three small coastal towns of Boac, Gasan
and Mogpog celebrate the Moriones festival.
