Nueva Ecija Province
............................................................................................................................
Between Tarlac and the southern
foot-hills of the Sierra Madre stretches the rice bowl of
Philippines, NUEVA ECIJA PROVINCE. Thanks to the fertile
sediments of the Pampanga and three other rivers, to
irrigation and copcious rainfall, the farmest can harvest
three crops per year. Apart from the big Pantabangan dam,
and the neighbouring Minalungao National Park, as well as
few springs and some cool mountain scenery, there is not
much to see in Nueva Ecija. However, the Central Luzon
State University near the capital Cabanatuan City is
important for the study of argriculture and animal
husbandry. From here, the rough road through Bongabon
gives you a chance to cross the Sierra Madre to the
Pacific coast. There is an attractive spot on the coast
called Baler in AURORA PROVINCE. While the countryside
inland is wonderful for walking, Baler Bay is
irresistible for surfers especially in December when the
breakers are big and numerous. This is when Cape Encanto
or "Cape of Delight" lives up to its name. |
