Puerto Province
............................................................................................................................ Puerto
Galare, the seventh largest of the Philippines Islands is
divided into two province, the Mindoro Occidental in the
west and Mindoro Oriental in the east. It is astonishing
to find that this island which is about five hours drive
from Manila is still one of the unspoilt parts of
Philippines. The name Mindoro is originated with the
Spanish, who arrived here in 1570 which means
"goldmines". Calapan, is the islands most
important port, is colourful and lively, as one would
expect of a fast growing capital. From Calapan, the
highway leads to Roxas and onto Boracay.
Boracay is what most people consider
paradise to be, white beaches, crystal clear, warm
shallow waters, magnificent sunsets, swaying palm trees,
tropical sunshine, peerless blue skies and colorful
fruits and flowers. White Beach in Boracay is not only
long, it is wide, stretching 50 meters or more into the
water. Theres not a trace of coral and the slope is
gradual is ideal for children. At midday when the
temperature is 35 degree celsius, the sand in the beach
never gets hots underfoot. At night, the brightly
shinning moon and stars turn the beach into a soft,
fluorescent path. For windsurfers, especially those who
are proficient on small boards, Boracay is Asias
board sailing paradise.
