- The
Empress Place Museum
Situated just to the right of the
landing site at Empress Place, this neo-classical
building was constructed in 1854 as a courthouse.
It was later extended to house government
offices. Today, the restored building is a museum
and exhibition centre displaying archaeological
treasures from China and other ancient
civilizations. There are shops selling silk and
handicrafts and a restaurant on the ground floor
overlooking the river. Allow at least two to
three hours to see the exquisite exhibitions. The
museum open daily from 09:00 to 18:30.
