The North of Singapore

Most of the green expanse of the northern district of Singapore has been spared the intensive reclamation and industrialization to which the other regions have been subjected. Here the same rainforest still cloaks the landscape as it did when Raffles first came ashore. Small farms growing fruit and vegetables and rearing poultry occupy the northernmost region. The scenery is a dramatic change from the skyscrapers of the downtown area.
