MRT (Mass Rapid Transport)
This modern air-conditioned passenger electric train service covers 42 stations. There are three lines : the East-West line from Pasir Ris to Boon Lay; the North-South line from Yishun to Marina Bay; the line from Choa Chu Kang to Jurong East. Each route is colour-coded and directions are marked on the platforms; travel maps and guides are available at all stations. Trains operate at intervals of 3-8 mins from 06:00 to 00:00.

There are ticket machines in the stations. TransitLink farecards (for which a deposit is charged) are available at most MRT stations and at bus interchanges. They are valid on the MRT as well as bus services operated by Singapore Bus Service (SBS) and the Trans Island Bus Service (TIBS). Any unused fares, plus the deposit, are refundable. A Tourist Souvenir ticket is also available from MRT stations in the city. Contact TransitLink hotline:
