Tomb-Sweeping Day is celebrated annually on April 5, which coincides with the date of President Chiang Kai-Shek’s death in 1975. During this festival, entire families go out to their ancentral burial grounds to sweep accumulated dirt and debris from the tombs, place fresh flowers around the graves, and perhaps plant some new trees, flowers and bushes in the area.
