This festival coincides with Songkran (the traditional Thai New Year) and includes traditional merit-making ceremonies such as paying homage to revered Buddha images and shrines, respectfully pouring water on elders' hands, offering food to monks, and beauty contests, floral processions and Northeastern folk entertainment.
